Incantations in Salt and Sanctuary are a form of Magic that doesn't require a staff/wand. In order to use them one must have the appropriate Class of Magic Skill. The Magic Stat increases the effectiveness of Incantations. Besides Incantations as below, there are Spells. See their page for details.
Equipping note: Incantations are equipped on the bottom row of the inventory screen sharing the same slots as Prayers.
Damage note: Both Dark Swarm and Lightning Storm scale with the damage of your held weapon. The higher the weapon's damage the more damage these incantations will do.

Incantations seem to scale with the damage and possibly also the charm you currently have equipped. I've tested this against a Crypt Keeper with both Dark Swarm and Static Geist. When I had to Phoenix Tail equipped the incantations did significantly less damage than when I was holding my Warhammer.

It's a shame that there's no fire or lightning weapon incantation. Literally you use fire and sky in your spells, but you can't channel it in your weapon! It's just that simple! I can even do it in real life by using oil and tazers! Inconsistencies all around!

Feel like magic is so bad balanced... I've been playing the game twice (as a tank and a badass hunter), but the mage feels so shabby... Any suggestion?
