Northern Cross in Salt and Sanctuary is a Greatscissor type weapon. (using it requires the Swordfighter, as Greatswords do, but Greatscissor is considered a seperate weapon type for the purpose of transmuting and has a separate moveset)
An elaborate weapon crafted by a swordsmith from Markdor who, upon learning of the Askarian Army's Jaws of Death, was loath to be outdone by a rival nation and set about the task of improving upon the original design. Several years and countless failed protypes later, the project finally produced its first successful model by shaping one blade from piezoelectric star quartz and the other from conductive duralumin. Dubbed the "Northern Cross," this masterpiece of Dorian craftsmanship did indeed surpass its Askarian counterpart but ironically, large-scale production proved impossible due to the rarity of star quartz. Press [y] while wielding this weapon in both hands to shear.
Notes and Tips:
- It is a Greatscissor, just like the Jaws of Death, so they can be transmuted into each other, but not back into Greatswords.
- It is practically the Magic scaled variant of the Jaws of Death
- At 50 Strength and 50 Magic this weapon has an Attack of 78.9/82.2 at tier VII.
- Two-handing a weapon increases Strength by 50% for damage scaling, meaning you only need 34 Strength to reach the 50 Strength soft cap when two-handing a weapon.

- Can be acquired by Transmuting any Greatsword (or Greatscissor) with The Bloodless Prince's Ashes, an Amber Idol and 10,000 Salt.

Something about a giant pair of magic scissors seems very fun-cartoon-wizard to me.
Two-handed at 34 STR 50 magic, Lightning charm and bloodflower ring (Or Tarnished Coronet) +Shockstone buff, the scissor snap move decimates everything. And even if you have basic STR stats if you have a solid magic stat its a great wpn for a mage build. Only require Class 3 sword to use 2H so fairly cheap requirement. And it's great scissors. Great scissors are awesome.

Is loadout 1 Northern Cross and Tuethis shield loadout 2 Saira's staff a gud build?
I'm thinkin about change the Jaws of Death to this one; but i'm not sure if its secure up magic points, I'm only STR and RES. Help me someone
On my first playtrough I could use it, two handed. But on NG+ I started to change my tree skill composition, took away some strenght, and willpower. And now single red cross have emerged on the weapon. I have increased by strenght, a lot, but still the red line is present. How can I fix this, and how can u see exactly how much strenght, willpower, etc, is needed to wield the weapon single handed. For the note, its transmuted into magic weapon.

It says I can transmute any greatsword to this. I have the materials and tried transmuting the kureimoa, but it can only change to shrouded bulwark. Help?

I've heard around the internet that magic weapons can be buffed at least by elemental charms, but I have not seen any evidence to back this. Any thoughts?
