Jaws of Death in Salt and Sanctuary is a Greatscissor type weapon. (using it requires the Swordfighter, as Greatswords do, but Greatscissor is considered a separate weapon type for the purpose of transmuting and has a separate moveset).

This peculiar weapon represents the culmination of an Askarian inventor's pioneering efforts in the emerging industry of military scrap recycling. Constructed by joining two modified greatsword blades at a central pivot to form a double lever, it is capable of standard slashes and thrusts as well as a devastating two-handed shear. As terrifying as it is innovative, the aptly-christened "Jaws of Death" has achieved remarkable success in preliminary field tests, leading to its approval for wider deployment among Askarian forces in the near future. Press [y] while wielding this weapon in both hands to shear.

Notes and Tips:

  • At 50 STR this weapon has an Attack of 151.1.
  • Two-handing a weapon increases Strength by 50% for damage scaling, meaning you only need 34 Strength to reach the 50 Strength soft cap when two-handing a weapon.
  • Prior to Patch 1.0.1.0 Greatscissors could not transmute into Greatswords.
  • Please note that unless you are devoted to the right creed (Iron Ones or The Three), you only have one Kureimoa to transmute. (Yes, it's the only 'basic' Greatsword)
  • Even though the Strength scaling is B, at 50 str it still outscales most Greatswords in term of raw damage (including the Trinity Sword, even though it's an endgame level 5 Greatsword with S scaling in str)
  • Using two hands and strong attack snaps the scissors together in a special attack. Like most strong attacks this attack deals +50% damage.
  • Subsequent uses of the Scissor Attack shortens the attack windup, allowing multiple hits in a very short time.

I'm surprised THIS greatsword is the strongest. I mean, even the Northern cross, which had bettet STR scaling as well as S magic scaling, does lightning damage.

      • One thing I haven't seen anyone else say is that you can pull off an even faster heavy combo by hitting heavy/light/light/light. It's the same animation as heavy/heavy/heavy/heavy, but it comes out faster.

I got both these scissors and Scharfrichter, and prefer the scissors in most cases. I tested them against each other pretty thoroughly, and the scissors' heavy attack combo above just destroys everything. Scharfrichter light attack combo is just about as fast, has greater reach and uses less stamina... but does much less damage. With the scissors, you can get off 3 heavy attacks in the time of 3 Scharfrichter light attacks, but they do about the same damage as 4 or 5 Scharfrichter hits.

Killed nameless god in 4 hits. He had only done 1 attack animation. Lol. That dude had so much to offer. Rip

This thing absolutely wrecks the game. Once you get this weapon you can easily beat most bosses with it but, switch to a Greathammer against bosses strong to slash. Having this and a Greathammer will make the game terribly easy.

FUn Fact: This weapons is kinda easteregg, since it refers to the Scissor weapon from SKA STUDIOS "The Dishwasher" Games ^^

I beat the game with this weapon once I found out how powerful it is. This (2h) + whistlebone charm. Strong attack-ed all the bosses to death.

Lotsa bursts on its 2h heavy attacks but sucks lemons on all its other attacks makes it require another sword on the second gear set, preferably something with good reach and equal verticality like the Trinity Greatsword.

scissor special attacks are great but dont even think about playing this weapon vs bosses on later ng's. this raw dmg weapon is nice to shred normal mobs away even in ng 7 but u should think about much stamina.

If you don't invest in Str and use it? It's a B Scaling, so I don't really see much coming from a Str investment. I want to use it as a last resort on my Mage Build. And I am hoping it's almost as powerful as someone who invested into Str, given the low scaling.

if you two hand this weapon and do a heavy attack (triangle) it does massive damage as shears, but uses a lot of stamina.
