Corsair's Backsword in Salt and Sanctuary is a Sword type weapon.
A basic single-edged straight sword with a knuckle guard. Widely available and relatively inexpensive, blades of this type are commonly carried by stalwart infantrymen and cutthroat marauders alike. Although its utilitarian design lacks ornamentation of any sort, its practical simplicity makes it an especially easy weapon to wield even for inexperienced combatants.
Notes and Tips:
- At 50 Strength and 50 Dexterity this weapon has an Attack of 74.7 at tier VII.
- Two-handing a weapon increases Strength by 50% for damage scaling, meaning you only need 34 Strength to reach the 50 Strength soft cap when two-handing a weapon.

What I don't get is why Swords give you extra Strength per rank but they mostly scale off dex.

This weapon is one of the best for strength/ng+ builds. with goldenwine, a decent shield/armor, and fair knowledge of the game, you're invincible.

At 50 STR, 5 DEX and fully upgraded, this weapon has an attack power of 58.9...

I'm currently doing a pirate build (backsword, cutlass, hunter's tricorn, officers frock) and I think that having a fast hitter weapon in my main hand slightly increases the fire rate of the pistol in my off-hand. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
If you're a STR build that doesn't want to use Greatswords for whatever reason (too easy?) then this is the sword for you. It's kind of the only sword for you.

its a super fast sword and it deal decent damages, very good for str fast builds.

Class 0 are strongest weapons and armors in game. Upgrade them to lvl 7 and smash, slice and dice.
