Escutcheon is a Shield in Salt and Sanctuary.
A large , slightly convex heater shield with a central boss for deflecting blades. Constructed from solid hardwood covered by a sheet of steel and painted with the arms of a low-ranking noble famliy, this shield offers substantial protection from conventional weapons.

Nothing exciting, but probably the best class 0 shield in the game, so if you want a shield, but don't want to invest any levels int getting a good one, I'd go for this one.
On the other hand, if you are not starting as the knight, you get the item so ridiculously late for a class 0 item.
