Transmutation | Salt and Sanctuary Wiki


Transmutation in Salt and Sanctuary is when you convert a Weapon, Shield or Armor into another of the same type using the remains of Bosses and Enemies. You can Transmute a Weapon or Shield as many times as you wish, the only penalty being that you will lose 1 Upgrade each time you do this, meaning you can get a boss weapon at almost max level, just one item away from max. To do this you will need a Stone Alchemist in your Sanctuary. Below is a list of equipment that can be made from them:

There is no requirement for the transmute to show up at the Alchemist other than having the materials and weapon type required.

      Yes, there are shield & armor transmutations as well, but they are very few compared to the weapons.
      5 helms and 5 shields altogether. 3 of the helms and 1 shield can also be acquired elsewhere.

      Any Light armor helm or headpiece can be transmuted into:
      | Clay Mask ( Clay Phantom's Ashes + Silverleaf + 1,500 salt ) |
      | Torturer's Veil ( Torturer's Ear + Silverleaf + 1,500 salt ) |
      | Sadist's Veil ( Vile Guard's Ear + Amber Idol + 3,500 salt ) |
      | Yokai Mask ( Spear Imp's Horn + Amber Idol + 3,500 salt ) |
      | Pigeon Mask ( Mother Merle's Beak + Amber Idol + 10,000 salt ) |
      The first 3 can also be rarely dropped by the mobs wearing them, but the Yokai & Pigeon masks are transmute only.

      Any Round shield can be transmuted into the exclusive Mirror Shield ( Hornet Steel's Ash + Amber Idol + 3,500 salt ).

      Any 'regular' shield can be transmuted into:
      | Teuthis Shield ( Rotten Raider's Ear + Silverleaf + 1,500 salt ) |
      | Bloodbrow Scutum ( Whisperlady's Ashes + Amber Idol + 3,500 salt ) |
      | Umbral Aegis ( Court Sorcerer's Ear + Diamond Cluster + 30,000 salt ) |
      The Teuthis Shield is sold by a few blacksmiths and also found elsewhere on the island, but the last two are transmute only.

      Any Tower shield can be transmuted into the exclusive Oppressive Greatshield ( Dread Horseman's Ashes + Diamond Cluster + 30,000 salt ).

      Someone else is welcome to add all that info directly to the wiki if they like.

      Urelated to the above list, but bellow is a helpful transmutation tip.

      You can save up on 3 of the 18 high end transmutes requiring super rare Shimmering Pearls & 100,000 salt each, if you have enough gold.
      The Tree of Men boss weapon Hammer can be bought from the Iron Ones' blacksmith at devotion lvl 6.
      The Third Lamb boss weapon Dagger can be bought from from the Stone Roots' cleric at devotion lvl 5.
      And lastly, one of the two non-boss Shimmering Pearl transmutes - the Poleaxe - can be found near The Salt Alkymancery's boss room.

        anyone one could tell me why i cant trasmute my stave? it just doesn't appear to select it and trasmute into a Channeler's Rod, i have all materials to do it, but i just cant select it, cant even see it in menu to choice it... I reset my game like 5 times taking diferents way, diferent creeds, talking with all NPC or without talking, i just cant, the worts part is that i could do it before, but for some reason i delete my last mage and cant see the stave anymore when i talk with Alchemist...

          Hey, get a weird thing few days ago. I'm playing my Order of the Betrayer character, and then i'm expunging sanctuary i looted from sanctuary guardian (with poleaxe and shield) "Sanctuary Guard's Ear". PC version, build 1.0.0.6. (Screenshot on imgur: http://i.imgur.com/liPWNP6.jpg)
          Anyone know what purpose of this thing?

            umbral shield will be made with a court sorcerer's ear a diamond cluster and any "shield" as in not a tower shield not a buckler.

                I've been trying to trasmute weapons but many of the weapons listed here don't appear on the menu (knight class, all brands if that helps). among the weapons not listed are Saltreaver and blade of envy.
